Help…get me out of here!!!

Help…get me out of here!!!

 free online image http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/images

Friends, there is an interesting story behind this post. I had written a comment in Debra’s blog about my fears and phobias, Debra suggested that I write an article based on my experiences, so here it is. The credit for this post goes to my dear friend Debra El-Ramey.

Help…get me out of here!!!

‘Remember, you are eating for two now’, was the well meaning advice doled out to me by my more experienced mom-friends. I was three months into my second pregnancy and the nausea and other side-effects of the first trimester were a distant memory now. I could eat, I was forever hungry...Ravenous, all the time. I heard eat for two, but to be on the safe side, I ate for four people and gained 20 kilos in six months time.

I have always hated elevators, but as luck would have it, we were allotted a house on the 13th floor and since refusing to take it meant another year’s delay in getting a different house, we took it. I was apprehensive, but resigned to a long trek up the stairs every day, because I just cannot ride in an empty elevator. I need at least one more human being in the lift with me, or I lose my sanity.

Though we did have two operators for the two lifts in the building, they were like the water and electricity supply, one moment here the next gone. With so many power outages, the elevators kept stalling mid way all the time, this heightened my paranoia. My worst nightmare was me getting stuck in an elevator and dying a horrible and agonizing, oxygen-starved death.

I used to dread getting into the elevator and went in only if the operator was there, otherwise I climbed the stairs. In the second trimester I could make it up to the 13th floor with just three breaks in between floors, first five then rest, climb 4 more then rest ,three and home. But seventh month onwards it was a five stop trip home. It was so painful and embarrassing. On lucky days, I would get company going up and I would alight at the floors, the others would, and take the stairs from there.

There was a pay phone in the lobby and a few notice boards, my modus operandi was to lurk in the lobby and pretend to read the various notices put up there or pretend to make a call, the moment somebody walked towards the elevators, there I was, faster than lightning, but trying to appear unhurried and completely relaxed. I would sweetly enquire, “Which floor?”, and wait with a baited breath for them to say a two digit number so that I didn’t have to climb more than a couple of floors, but most of the times the morons would just say second or fifth floor. My god!! These people were sissies; couldn’t they climb up 5 floors when a very pregnant woman could do it every day? Once in a while some Good Samaritans replied, 12th floor and I could have wept with relief then and kissed them on both the cheeks, god bless them.

A lot of water has flown under the bridge but I am still unchanged in my fear of closed spaces. Trying to make me understand and overcome my irrational fears is an exercise in futility, I am beyond redemption. Kriti Mukherjee, my dear friend and now, also my business partner, lives on the 13th floor too, deja vu…

Whenever I visit her place, which is very often, I call her up from the lobby and she comes down to get me. Her two year old daughter, Agni, whom all address as Guni, also knows that Sulekha aunty is scared to go down in the elevator alone. She accompanies us down when I leave their place, “Mama, I also want to come with you and Sulekha aunty”, bless her innocent and sweet heart.

Friends, the next time you are waiting for an elevator and happen to spot a woman with a crazy and desperate look in her eyes, don’t be alarmed, and just ask her if she wants to ride in the elevator with you. Her gratitude will overwhelm you. It could be me or someone like me, with all her phobias wrapped around her like an invisible cloak. Help her, help me.

Emilio's Retort

 free online image http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/images

"I am misunderstood."
Roxy tried to get me kicked out of the hood.
She should have tried to see my point of view,
Why I did what I did and  why I'll do it again,
If I had to, I really really SO would.

Roxy followed me everywhere, I mean, PLEASE,
give a man some SPACE!!!
She just didn't get it, was always in my FACE!!!

If I stepped into my balcony, there she was,
perched high, on her chair, staring at my body,
and my non-existent fabulous hair.

She'd blink her eyes, smile coyly and flirt.
Though I didn't mind the flirting, at times,
but let a handsome dude wake up, first.

Out in the park, she was always by my side,
hanging on to every bark of mine.
Prancing and preening, to impress me.
"Girl, you're okay, but I've seen fine."

And to top it all, she wanted me to fight,
Rufus,Buddy and Bruno. No thank you.
I am no super hero, and it's not right,
to expect me to, boldly rescue you.

I can't take them all on, they are big and mean.
Anyone who has messed with them,
has had to relocate, pack his bags, move on.

I like this place, I belong here.Roxy is like a thorn in my side,
though she is pretty and witty and fine,
there's more to life than making her mine.

I want to sow my wild oats, you're only young once.
Maybe after I've done it all,and still feel the same.
I will make a U Turn, But until then, Babe,
Please let me be,I don't even have a pedigree.

We can be friends, but don't expect the moon from me,
Come to the park if you're okay with this.Play with me.
If not, then please stay the hell away from me.

Roxy and Emilio

 free online image http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/images

When will Roxy learn that Emilio is not, the one,
Who will appreciate her love and give her, her due.
He will not understand her fears or fulfil her needs,
He will just walk away, whenever he feels.
Uncaring, that he is breaking her heart.
Unaware, that she has unconditionally,
worshipped him from the start.

Why does Roxy long for Emilio?
Why can’t she see him for what he is?
Why does she kiss the ground he walks on?
Why can’t she let him be?

Emilio shuns Roxy every step of the way,
and doesn’t give her the time of the day.
He feeds on her attention, but ignores her.
He breaks her heart at every chance, and
walks away without a backward glance.

What she needs to do first and foremost,
is to kick him where it hurts the most.
Treat him as shabbily as he has, treated her.
A blow so fine that he always remembers.

Roxy needs to bring Emilio down,
a rung or two, on her ladder of love.
She needs to make him see the folly,
of his wayward ways.
Give him a chance to redeem himself,
in a couple of days.

But if he still cannot see her true love,
he needs to be sent packing right away,
and never allowed to be anywhere,
near Roxy, come what may.

Tears are me…

I cry when I hear your favourite song,
It’s my song too, will always be mine.
I cry when you don’t call,
Miss you like crazy.

I try to be brave and live my life,
smiling, without a care,
when inside my heart is bleeding,
thinking of you , somewhere.

My tears fall like the rain.
This Incessant downpour,
is flooding my soul,
with bitter-sweet memories,
of beautiful days gone by.
When a single tear drop
from my eye, was enough,
to make you cry out in pain.

You understood my suffering,
Promised to keep my heart safe,
you'd said you wouldn’t let sorrow,
anywhere near my heart.
You'd sworn that we would never part.

Now, you are gone, far, so far,
that your arms cannot reach me,
and hold me close to your heart.
My tears fall ceaselessly,
crying out your name.
They crave for your gentle touch,
to ease away the pain.
Come back to me my darling,
I no longer wish to cry.
Transform my unhappy tears,
into those of unparalleled joy.

Every tear I cry,
 calls out your name.
without you in my life,
nothing is the same.
My existence is threatened,
by unhappy thoughts.
With pain, my heart replete.
Without you, with me,
My soul is incomplete

Super Blogger Award

Friends,

My dearest Outlier, Rimly had awarded me the sexy talented diploma a long time ago. Rimly is a true poetess, her posts are soulful and beautiful, like her. Visit her blog http://rimlybezbaruah.blogspot.com ,  and be charmed. I am passing on  the Super Blogger Award to seven wonderful writers. Though I feel all the writers are exceptionally great, we can award only seven at a time, so will give the award to the next lot in my future posts.

The only drawback of the award ceremony is the seven things about myself, that I have to share with the world. I am a simple person with a complex life, so what do I say about me?

I enjoy  watching comedy shows.

Sometimes I laugh so much that tears come out of my eyes.

I hide dark chocolates in my cupboard and eat them whenever I am stressed out about something.

I love drinking tea, at anytime of the day.

My most favorite dish is prawns cooked in any which way.

I love going to the beach, I was born and raised in Mumbai and enjoyed the beaches there but now am stuck in a place which has no beaches at all :(

I like listening to music.

I feel incomplete without a book by my bedside.

Okay now that you know all my dirty secrets, it's time to honor the deserving writers of the week.

Kriti Mukherjee, how about this? She is an enigma, a diva with a flair for writing, wonderfully, imaginative stories. She is a bundle of energy and talent, good things come in small packages, applies aptly,to her. When you read her stories, you are transported to her world and are so reluctant to come back, even after the story ends. her blog is called, howaboutthis

Tameka Mullins, ( Tamstarz), is someone who writes with a pen but her writings mark our souls. I love her blog's tagline, 'Your pen should always burn the page'. This tells you a lot about the author and her talentShe wrote her first poem when she was 5-years-old and it consisted of just two words: "I dream." She believes that with persistence and passion dreams can be transformed into goals which become reality. Read her atlyricfire.typepad.com

Jim McIntosh, In his own words, "A custom shoemaker, slowly wearing out his tools. No sign of slowing down for this not so young traveler, but sometimes I just have to take time out to repair my worn out soles. They've been around, and it's time to talk of where they've been. Join us in our journeys, we'll learn more about wildlife conservation and social issues around this world, and maybe delve beyond the conscious."                  And Now, I am supposed to tell you seven things about myself, before I give the award to the seven talented bloggers.

I Read

I write

I laugh

I cry

I feel

I Live

I love

When you read the seven extremely Kreativ writers introductions, you realize how brilliant they all are, Visit their blogs and see for yourselves.

The Kreative writers speak for themselves
I am not a writer… I am a mere mortal who writes straight from my heart… The poems that you read are not really poems… They are the songs from my soul… The rhyme of roman hymns or ancient tales are not known to me… I grew up listening to fairy tales narrated by my grandfather… I had a strange childhood… But I am thankful to it… It gives me strength… And it made me only stronger…
I'm the mother of three, grandmother of two, slave of two demanding cats. I've been a widow for four years and have taught resource courses for widows and widowers. I've written romance novels. See my website at www.eclectics.com/ lornamichaels. Currently I'm working on a memoir titled ‘Stumbling Through the Dark.’
There is a certain fascination Life holds; defined in a splash of colours of despair, faith, love, conflict, happiness and a sense of awareness. My Life is a maze, a tangled web of emotions, thoughts and feelings I write down so I can breathe. I am not at the end of my journey. Each passing moment is a journey in itself. My writings reflect my journey and I share my life through this. A gypsy through Life, my journey is endless, my day here, a pause, before I become aware of what more...

Welcome! This blog is my way of reminiscing, of revisiting experiences, events, conversations, triumphs and tribulations. It’s hard to keep up when so many things happen, way too quickly and perhaps all at the same time. I started this blog in 2007. What started on a lark has turned into a delightful passion, something I feel strongly about and enjoy engaging in. I blog mostly about my two munchkins who just like any healthy, active kids, keep me on my toes.
I observe everything and experienced countless imaginable and unimaginable events in my life. I’m blogging about these experiences in hopes that I can touch people in a way that makes you have a good belly laugh…grit your teeth in frustration…long in anticipation…cry tears of joy and sorrow…nod your head thinking “yes, I can relate to that”…and dream dreams of a brighter tomorrow. My goal as a writer is to enlighten and entertain you, to inspire and to move you. If my words have merit in your heart, then you will “feel me.” Strive each day towards your own joy. Be grateful for what you have, and not bitter for what you don’t have. Love, don’t hate. Truth, not lies. Fair, not scandalous. Smile often.
Howdy; my name is Roy.  I am 64 year past my birth.  I got hitch to a loving wife 43 years ago. I have one stepson, one foster son, one foster daughter, one son, one daughter, 19 grand kids, and one great grandson. According to my first grandson” I am not a cowboy I’m a spaceman that fixes things.”
I am a woman with no great demands..my family and friends mean the world to me...my biggest support and critic is my daughter..and her approval is very important.Life has not been very easy, but now I have decided to live it to the fullest.I believe I would rather live in pain with dignity, rather than living without pain as a fool.I am not in this world to live up to other people's expectations, nor do I feel that the world must live up to mine...

Whenever I am feeling blue,
I wear yellow to cheer me up.
Cramming for exams,
I always do,in
a room painted blue.

When I am in love,
Red is my colour.
When the green–eyed monster
Strikes my heart,
I wear orange to spite it.
My yoga mat is violet in hue,
Indigo is my choice,
When I take responsibility,
for my actions and am true.

I love the rainbow,
I do, But,
Of all the colours,
in the world, I see,
I love Lilac the most.
It’s sensitive in nature,
and a hopeless,
romantic, like me.
